Philips Hue in-store experience

The Brief:
Create an in-store experience that will feature in the top 1.000 Best Buy stores across the USA, capable of grabbing attention in a cluttered shelf environment.

Showcase and educate store visitors about the full experience that Philips Hue can offer.

Generate sales & increase customer knowledge while focussing on key brand pillars; (smart) Home, easy to use and suitable for everyone.

The response:
A intuitive dual screen experience, which features the lifestyle and lighting products to achieve and compliment any moment in your home.

Users explore various moments to preview results they can achieve with Hue, while being served co-relating products & information to get them there.

 Brainstorming, sketching and writing ideas to get the best possible outcome for the brief. Changing and adapting these ideas to make sure we engage the user to, first, touch the tablet and start exploring, and second, get them to stay and experience

 One major challenge was making it easy enough for the user to get access to the information that is relevant to them. Customers in a Best Buy store could easily be tech-savy Moms or connected enthusiasts to inexperienced Grand Dads or new home owner

One major design element we needed to work with was the light origin. In the design, light input is the main source of color through the visuals. Light is brought to life by placing it opposite darkness.

The overall look and feel uses different dark tones, this way, when lights are present the color will pop out more.

Below is an example of the tablet design and how it affects the video on the larger screen.
